problems
Does anyone know how to fix the towed guns not deploying? When I deploy them, the truck, (with gun still towed behind it), stays on top of the the deployed guns and they can't be undeployed again. Sometimes the truck actually splits into two trucks that are stuck to the same spot, (but can be turned), and can't move. I'm on a Windows 7 64x, running spring engine ver. 88 and Spring lobby 0.146, I'm experiencing crashes in most games and strange behavior with units in 1944.
How to install
Copy the downloaded file to your Spring\games directory and launch spring lobby

Installation
Instructions for installing on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)
1.) Open up Synaptic Package Manager (System->Administration->Synaptic)
2.) Search for 'spring'
3.) Mark the following packages for installation:
'spring' version 0.82.5.1 or higher
'springlobby' version 0.104 or higher
'spring-common' version 0.82.5.1 or higher
Those are the most recent versions at the time of this posting.
4.) Apply changes to install the marked packages.
5.) Close Synaptic Package Manager
6.) Download preferred mods and maps from springfiles.com, making note of their saved location.
7.) Open file viewer or open a terminal window and type in 'nautilus', then point it to your home directory (/home/"username").
8.) Click view-> ensure 'Show hidden files' is checked.
9.) Open folder .spring
10.) Create 2 directories if they do not already exist, 'maps' and 'mods'.
11.) Drag previously downloaded map and mod files into the appropriately named folders.
-The path of these folders should be:
/home/"username"/.spring/mods/
/home/"username"/.spring/maps/
-Map files will be of format .sd7
-Mod files will be of format .sdz
12.) Close nautilus file viewer, then start SpringLobby (which you installed through Synaptic earlier) by finding it in your Applications->Games menu, or by opening a terminal and typing 'springlobby' followed by enter.
13.) Apply the first-time settings window, read through the newbie guide if you like, then in the main SpringLobby window select the 'Singleplayer' tab, choose a map and a mod, add a bot or two for some competition, click start, and play!
Installation
Given the time/human resource restraints common with Open Source apps, (here refer to the comment that an installer is 'coming soon'. Sometimes 'soon' is a bit of an elastic concept) it would be useful, (if tedious for the more experienced) if detailed instructions were provided on how to install archive files so that people can actually use things. It may be a chore, but humans only learn by constant repetition, and that means, putting detailed, and easy to follow instructions. Windows scores here, as most people can manage to install an .exe file. I realise that I'm leaving myself open to being 'flamed', (it's happened elsewhere!) but most people aren't geeks, and if Linux is to become anywhere near as popular as Windows, the above needs to happen.
